Reconstruction of the Rail Baltica railway section Marijampolė – Šeštokai
The reconstruction of the Rail Baltica railway section from Marijampolė to Šeštokai has been completed to modernize the existing infrastructure and ensure smooth integration of the European standard gauge (1435 mm) railway into the international network.
The main works carried out during the project included:
- Reconstruction of the railway track to increase traffic safety, train speed, and transport capacity;
- Installation of modern signaling and control systems;
- Construction of upgraded and new engineering structures.
Reconstruction of Šeštokai Railway Station
Šeštokai Railway Station is a key part of the Rail Baltica corridor, and its reconstruction enables the optimization of train movement as well as passenger and freight transport processes. The works included the following areas:
- Upgrading passenger infrastructure to provide modern and comfortable conditions for travelers;
- Modernization of railway tracks, platforms, and surrounding infrastructure;
- Upgrading traffic management and signaling systems.
These efforts have contributed to more efficient and faster connectivity between Lithuania and other European countries, strengthened logistics chains, and stimulated regional economic growth.
