Reconstruction of Grade-Separated Intersections in Marijampolė: Gedimino and Aušros Streets
In the city of Marijampolė, the intersections of Gedimino and Aušros Streets with the railway were reconstructed to eliminate at-grade crossings and ensure safer and more efficient traffic flow.
During the project:
- At-grade railway crossings were eliminated on Gedimino and Aušros Streets;
- Modern tunnels were constructed under the railway, allowing uninterrupted movement of vehicles and pedestrians without train-related disruptions;
- Tunnel access routes were improved and adapted for convenient movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.
This reconstruction significantly improved traffic safety in Marijampolė, reduced congestion and the risk of accidents, and ensured smoother connectivity within the city. It is an important step in modernizing the city’s infrastructure and enhancing mobility for both residents and transit traffic.
