The Alkesta Team at Alytus City Festival

This year, on 12 June, Alytus celebrated its 445th birthday. To mark the occasion, the city organised a celebration titled “A Green Land – A Green Heart”, while the traditional parade was called the “Green Wave”. This annual, colourful and cheerful parade brought together hundreds of participants, including the Alkesta team.

“This year was special for us because Alkesta joined the festive parade for the first time. We had been preparing for it for several weeks – discussing ideas, planning, decorating, getting ready and looking forward to the day when we could become part of this beautiful city tradition,” said Ramunė Šimanskienė, Technical Documentation Engineer at Alkesta, speaking about the joyful preparations for the celebration.

The company not only took part in the Green Wave parade, but also came up with additional activities to make the celebration even more enjoyable for the residents of Alytus and the city’s guests.

“We wanted not only to take part in the parade, but also to contribute to creating a festive atmosphere. That is why we brought our little house, ‘Alkesta Summer’ – in winter it was called ‘Alkestaland’ – and treated parade participants, city guests and residents to green summer lemonade. It was wonderful to see smiling people sincerely thanking us for the surprises and remembering the warm cups of cocoa we shared in winter. We handed out 2,000 cups of green lemonade,” shared Eglė Marcinkevičiūtė, Office Manager at Alkesta.

According to Alkesta’s Director, Titas Lukšas, celebrations like this bring the team together, strengthen relationships and allow everyone to feel part of the city community.

“Alytus City Festival is a wonderful opportunity to pause, appreciate our city and spend time together. It is important for us to be not only a construction company, but also an active part of the Alytus community. We are pleased to contribute to the festive parade and help create a warm and lively city atmosphere. Moments like these make it especially clear that a city is strengthened not only by projects and work, but also by people, their sense of togetherness and their desire to nurture their region,” said T. Lukšas, expressing his joy about the initiative.

Other colleagues also shared their positive impressions:

“I had been thinking for a long time that our company should take part in the city parade. It finally happened, and even the rain did not scare us away,” said Donatas.

“A wonderful celebration that revealed Alytus’ greenery, sense of community and hospitality,” shared Solveiga.

We would like to thank everyone who was there with us – those who took part in the parade, handed out lemonade, tasted the lemonade, waved, smiled and thanked us.
