Reconstruction of the “Rail Baltica” Railway Section from Marijampolė to Šeštokai
The reconstruction of the railway section from Marijampolė to Šeštokai was successfully completed with the goal of modernizing infrastructure and integrating the European standard gauge (1435 mm) into the international railway network.
Scope of Works:
- Upgrading and modernization of the railway track to increase safety and train speeds;
- Installation of new signaling and control systems;
- Reconstruction of engineering structures and implementation of new infrastructure elements.

The reconstruction of Marijampolė railway station and the interstation section from Marijampolė to Šeštokai is an important part of the “Rail Baltica” project, aimed at ensuring more efficient connectivity and improved conditions for both passenger and freight transport.
Key Achievements:
- Modernization of Marijampolė railway station to adapt it to the European gauge and enhance passenger convenience;
- Upgrade of the interstation infrastructure to improve traffic capacity and operational efficiency;
- Reconstruction works along the section up to km 28+500, including railway track and associated infrastructure upgrades.
These modernization efforts enhance the integration of Lithuania’s railway network into international transport corridors, ensuring faster and more convenient travel while contributing to regional economic development.
